Forwards Zach Aston-Reese, Teddy Blueger and defenseman Chad Ruhwedel will draw into the lineup tonight vs the Edmonton Oilers.
Aston-Reese returns to action after a month long absence due to a broken left hand. Ruhwedel will dress for the first time since November 19th. The notable healthy scratch tonight will be Dominik Simon.
Simon has flourished this season in almost all advanced metrics, has been very good at creating offense, but his season is starting to reach the point where he has to start putting up more points. Simon with 7 goals, 14 assists in 48 games, has no points in his last seven games. However, you look at the group of best available forwards the Penguins can dress tonight and Simon is still one of them.
LINEUP
Guentzel – Crosby – Rust
Pearson – Bjugstad – Kessel
Blueger – McCann – Hornqvist
Aston-Resse — Cullen – Wilson
D-Pairs
DuMoulin – Letang
Pettersson – Ruhwedel
Riikola – Johnson
I think I know the answer but can an “insider” tell me why Horny can’t crack the top six. I dont have an issue with Simon in the line up, I have an issue with Simon getting top minutes over Hornqvist
it’s because the coach is a total A hole. he probably hates hornqvist because he’ll slightly go out of position to hit a guy. you know that drives sullivan crazy. i’m sure they’ll ship hornqvist out of here at the deadline.
Pens got a lot balls. They are opening renewals for season ticket holders for next season already…….
just goes to show you how advanced metrics are over rated. at the end of the day, the true measure of creating offense is how many pucks you put into the net. as far as the scoresheet goes, simon isn’t creating jack shit.
And we are back with Hanging Chad as a defensemen
My fuck – how can they keep dressing Cullen?
Because Malkin can’t play. Hopefully next game that changes.
i’m not saying i agree with his usage, but cullen kills penalties and takes late game draws. sully clearly believes in his defensive acumen. i don’t see him coming out of a healthy line up.
