Pittsburgh Pirates (35-33) @ Cleveland Indians (36-31)

PIT Kevin Correia (8-5, 3.73 ERA) vs CLE Tomlin (7-4, 4.14 ERA)

Scouting Tonight’s Game

— The Pirates riding a four game winning streak, have the worst interleague winning percentage (.377) since play began in 1997. The Pirates though are 15-12 against the Indians and are an impressive 20-15 on the road.
— Three games out in the National League Central, Pirates are closest to first place this late in the season, since being 2.5 games back of Houston on September 9, 1997.
— Cleveland (36-31) is one game out of first in the AL Central, but that’s a disappointment considering the Indians held a seven-game lead in late May.
The Indians have lost 11 of 14 and are batting .199 during that span.
Cleveland has the best home record in the AL at 20-12 but have lost 8 of 9 at home.
— Kevin Correia takes the mound for the Pirates tonight. He is 7-1 with a 2.42 ERA on the road this season. Correia has allowed 4 earned runs each in his last two starts, both at home. Correia is 1-4 with a 5.54 ERA at home.
— The right hander has never faced the Indians.
— Josh Tomlin (7-4, 4.14 ERA) gets the start for Cleveland. Like Correia, Tomlin has never faced the Pirates. He started the season 6-2 but is 1-2 with a 9.53 ERA in the month of June.
In Tomlin’s last appearance (6/12 vs NYY), he allowed 6 runs in 5 innings pitched.
Garrett Jones will serve as the Pirates DH tonight and bat 5th.
— Reliever Mike Crotta is starting his rehab stint in Double-A Altoona tonight.
