Backup goaltender Jeff Zatkoff made his first preseason start and had a solid game, stopping 30 of 32 shots in the Penguins 3-2 shootout win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Zatkoff was 2-for-2 in the shootout, stopping Brandon Pirri and Bryan Bickell. Upfront, the Blackhawks dressed few NHL regulars. Zatkoff was strong in challenging pucks and seemed to be seeing the puck well. “It’s nice to come in and play well,” Zatkoff said. “I’ve been waiting for this opportunity a longtime. I’ve always believed in my self.”
