The National Hockey League announced this afternoon that Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings, Ryan Kesler, Vancouver Canucks and Jordan Staal, Pittsburgh Penguins are the finalists for the Frank J. Selke Trophy that is presented annually “to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.”.
Staal, 21, had 21 goals and 28 assists in 82 games for Pittsburgh.
Staal who had a team best plus-19 rating for the Penguins, is looking to become the first Penguin to win the award since Ron Francis in 1994-1995.
