The Pittsburgh Penguins did not pull off a blockbuster trade for Ryan Kesler. The Canucks No. 2 center is staying put. As of about 2:45 p.m., the Penguins were said to have believed a deal wasn’t going to happen and one never came to fruition.
A stumbling block for the Penguins has always been the lack of a second asset, notably a top high end forward prospect.
Meanwhile, the Penguins have been reportedly linked to Calgary’s Lee Stempniak but nothing official yet on whether the Penguins closed a deal on him. Stempniak has 8 goals and 23 points in 52 games.
