Alex Kovalev did not have a great end to his Penguins career getting benched in the third period of Game 7 against the Tampa Bay Lightning and not being called upon for a game ending 6-on-4.
While Kovalev was not happy with how he was used, he did take the high road in a recent interview, not taking a parting shot at the Penguins like he did with others.

“Everything was fine. I had played for Pittsburgh before. The atmosphere doesn’t change there. But my style didn’t fit with the game coach Dan Byslma was implementing. There is nothing else to explain it with, ” Kovalev said in a recent interview where he bashed the media and Ottawa Senators.
Kovalev said it best in that his style didn’t fit with head coach Dan Bylsma. However, you can also make the argument that maybe Bylsma should have adjusted to him.
