Defenseman Kris Letang will return to the lineup tonight vs the Detroit Red Wings, 10 weeks since suffering a stroke in late January.
Penguins GM Ray Shero officially confirmed the news moments ago. “Kris has been bugging me for a little while now,” Shero said. Shero said this is Letang’s decision and the team supports him. “We have supported Kris in whatever he wanted to do.”
Shero stated that “health wise” Letang is good. “He has been comfortable for a while, ” Shero said of Letang getting back into action. Shero made it clear that Letang is at no more of a risk playing hockey than he would be going to the grocery store. Everyone involved in the process are comfortable with Letang playing.
The headaches Letang often deals with are not related to the stroke, Shero said.
