Burress considering all teams
The so-called “Plaxwatch” this afternoon brought back memories of Jaromir Jagr with some local media members jumping the gun via twitter that they believed a deal with Pittsburgh was pretty much a done deal as Burress was meeting with Kevin Colbert and Omar Khan in Colbert’s second floor office where players normally sign contracts.
That ended up not being the case and even calling Pittsburgh the front runners right now is a bit of a reach at this point.
The Burress situation though is emerging as somewhat unpredictable, just like the Jagr saga, as conflicting info and reports have emerged for example, whether the Giants are in or out, and vice versa for the Jets.
Here’s what we hear:
*The Steelers made a great impression on Burress who spent seven hours with the team. Team officials and players also made a great sales pitch to lock down a deal today but Burress with the advice of his agent Drew Rosenhaus will explore all options.
*Burress is scheduled to visit the San Francisco 49er’s on Sunday. At this time, he has no other official visits setup but Rosenhaus is in the process of scheduling a visit for Monday with the Jets.
*The Philadelphia Eagles who Plaxico’s camp leaked out as a team at the top of his wishlist while he was still in jail, could still emerge as a sleeper.
A source in Burress camp has indicated that all teams are under consideration:
The reported New York Giants 2 year – $10 million offer is complete fabrication and Burress in fact confirmed to the Newark Star-Ledger saying that the Giants have not made an offer.
