The Latest chatter on Team Canada is that a hand injury to Logan Couture that will require surgery is expected to open the door for Chris Kunitz or Patrick Marleau to be named to the team.
TSN’s latest projections at this hour now have Couture out with Chris Kunitz in, per Bob McKenzie. The other change from TSN’s original projections is Jeff Carter now making the team over Claude Giroux. Kunitz making the team over Giroux would surely draw some outrage from Canadians I’m sure, despite Giroux’s slow start this year and subpar play last season.
Canada will announce their roster at 11:00 a.m. If Kunitz makes the team, I’m hearing Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli is a big reason why and he has been the one pushing for Kunitz to make the team.
Meanwhile, Penguins forward Jussi Jokinen and rookie defenseman Olli Maatta have been named to Team Finland.
