Rumblings: New Regime privately wanted to kill the Sullivan noise right away this off-season
— Maybe the new regime of Ron Hextall and Brian Burke are just delaying the inevitable and they’ll eventually bring in their own guy by the 2022-2023 season, but any chance of Penguins’ head coach Mike Sullivan exiting the organization this off-season would be Sullivan’s doing in lining up and wanting another opportunity.
With some noise being out there, Hextall and Burke made it known to Sullivan last week and within 24 hours of the Penguins ouster, sources say, To read this insider news, subscribe to get “Inside Access”!
From strictly a coaching performance, the new regime just saw nothing from Sullivan’s grip on the team that warranted much discussion at all about needing a new voice. They believe he deserves another chance to run it back with most of this group.
Extensive discussions on potential philosophical differences between the two sides that are believed to exist is something that will be pushed down the road this summer.

— With the salary cap expected to stay flat for the next three seasons, the top early off-season priority for GM Ron Hextall continues to be [hide] clearing cap space and moving a sizeable contract or two with term. Hextall & Co started to lay some groundwork with GM’s during the season for potential summer deals and that will be the focus going into the expansion draft and entry draft.
It’s not hard to figure out whose names will be out there in trade talks on that front. [/hide]
— Some buzz around the league is there’s concern from the Penguins hierarchy that Sidney Crosby wore down over the final 3-4 weeks of what was a shortened season and this isn’t a consensus, but there’s a feeling among some that how hard Sidney Crosby has to work for his offense down low and defend could become a long-term problem as Crosby gets older when it comes to points producing.
Would adding an elite defensive minded top-9 winger to Crosby’s line ease the load on Crosby, as one scout To read this insider news, subscribe to get “Inside Access”!

The league has to do something about that Scheifele hit. It was late, he left his feet and it was uncalled for. Too many cheap shots after empty net goals lately. Should be an automatic one game suspension.
Wow what a good game Vegas vs Colorado. Vegas had no puck luck too many posts.
And the dumb penalties cost them goals avs were scary everytime they had a powerplay

It’s never MAF’s fault. This one was Dan Bylsma’s fault. He sneezed in Detroit somewhere and it throw Fleury off his game.
Let’s see how Buffalo screws this up.
In their defense, there isn’t really a standout elite talent at #1. It’ll probably be Owen Power, but it’s not a sure thing. If Eichel were in this draft, he’d easily be the #1. That whole organization needs an overhaul though.
“We see a future with this core,” Hextall said. “These guys have been here a long time. We had a good year. It certainly didn’t give me pause to think about what we should do with this core. It certainly didn’t give me pause to think about what we should do with this core.”
Hextall added he expects to have all three back next season “for sure.” The same apparently goes for goaltender Tristan Jarry.
Big Mistake…to bring them all back…
Nothing happans until after the expansion draft is over….
I hope they keep Guentzel… I’m sure he will hit the gym this summer (As he stated) and will make the adjustments…
Tom Wilson is a train wreck..
Guentzel for wilson would be such a horrible troll move that I’d get satisfaction from it
I like to hear the priority being cap space. Outside of 71/58, Pettersson, Marino, Zucker and Matheson are all expendable. I’d prefer to keep Tanev. It’ll also be interesting to see how the expansion draft plays out. Who knows who will come off the roster. I also read an interesting take on the draft this year. There are 3 projected Michigan players in the top 10. Some leagues weren’t scouted nearly as much because of the pandemic which may lead to things like that. Point being there may be some hidden gems and gathering late first and second round picks… Read more »

– Malkin has a home in Miami and lives there
– Florida is Moscow 2.0 lots of Russians Brobrosky / Barkov etc.
– No state tax
-They have a good team
– Former Penguins teammate there in Hornqvist
If Malkin is ever going to agree to a trade it is Florida or the Rangers..
Barkov is from Finland.
