The National Hockey League is fully expected to come down hard on Penguins winger Matt Cooke today.
As expected, Cooke has a hearing scheduled in person with the league, which in all likelyhood means a suspension of 6+ games. The hearing is scheduled for this afternoon
How hard the league comes down on Cooke will be interesting to watch as there’s a lot of pressure…

for the league to finally make an example of Cooke, with support around the league for a 10+ games suspension. Some are advocating that for the league to send a real message, they need to suspend Cooke for the rest of the season.
That is not expected to happen, but an 8-10 game suspension is considered a strong possibility.
The team is also usually represented for in-person hearings. Cookes agent Pat Morris is expected to be apart of the hearing.
