Locke shows awful command in 6-4 loss to Cardinals

  • Jeff Locke threw just 6 first pitch strikes to 18 batters faced and failed to get out of the 4th inning in a 6-4 loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday night. Locke entered the 4th inning with the game tied 2-2 and walked Yadier Molina to leadoff the 4th, than walked Daniel Descalso to put runners on first and second. Peter Bourjos would single off Locke, scoring Molina and the killer for the Pirates was not getting Locke out of the game right after the Bourjos RBI single. Hurdle opted to let Locke pitch to Adam Wainwright and Wainwright drove in two runners with a single to make it 5-2 Cardinals. Locke faced four batters in the 4th inning, walk, walk, RBI single, 2-run single allowed.
