Malkin day-to-day with bone bruise; Should Talbot get the "Ruslan Fedotenko" treatment?

*Team officials announced this afternoon that X-rays on Evgeni Malkin's right foot came back negative. Malkin is listed as day-to-day with what is regarded as a bone bruise.

The Penguins had the day off today and return to practice tomorrow morning. The team will depart for New Jersey Tuesday afternoon following practice as the team has two games remaining on their five game road trip.

*Head coach Dan Bylsma praised the play of Tyler Kennedy following Sunday's game as Kennedy returned to the lineup after being a healthy scratch for two games.

The odd-man out Sunday afternoon was Maxime Talbot and indications are the team will not let Talbot play his way back into form from last season.

Talbot who is having an awful season, is in a position where he's a strong candidiate to be a scratch game in and game out as other role players like Craig Adams have solidified their status in the eyes of the coaching staff as locks to stay in the lineup.

A question surrounding the team is whether the coaching staff should give Talbot every opportunity to regain his 2009 playoff form, like they are giving Ruslan Fedotenko who has 9 goals and a team-worst minus-18 rating in 67 games played.

Talbot who was third on the Penguins with 8 playoff goals last post-season, played a vital role on Evgeni Malkin's line but is quickly finding out that the NHL is a what have you done for me lately business.

Fedotenko has something on Bylsma or Shero... that's the only way I can see him getting playing time. It's getting out of hand.

As much as he might deserve it, you can't sit Feds. The guy knows how to score goals, he's just not doing it, for whatever reason. You gotta keep the faith that he's gonna start scoring again, because when he's hot, he can really bury it.

I think DB should use this opportunity to really evaluate Talbot. Have him center Feds and Poni and see what they can do

If Goligoski played with half as much heart of Fedotenko does he would be great. But he's a sissy man. Fedotenko has been playing much better lately, and like it or not he has 2 stanley cup rings.

What I like about Bylsma is he doesn't play favorites. He plays the guys who are busting their ass and playing hard. He rewards good play. Kennedy was benched and he got the message and has come back strong. Talbot will get his chance again, i'm sure.

Frankly, I wish that DB would show a little more concern about finding the right linemates to play with Malkin than with proving, despite increasing evidence to the contrary, that Fedotenko should be playing with Malkin or, for that matter, even playing.

Bylsma and the Pens organization don't seem like they give two shits about who plays with Malkin, it's all about Sid.

jeffed not true at all. malkin needs malone type winger to help create space. anyone fits with sid his speed and tenacity go a long way to create his own space.
