Insider Only Malkin feels “strong” and healthy but will not play against Rangers

Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin went through a full practice this afternoon and indicated after practice that he feels strong health wise and believes he can return to the lineup.
However, head coach Dan Bylsma announced minutes later that Malkin will not play tomorrow night.
Bylsma said Malkin is being held out for tomorrow’s game against the New York Rangers because of his sinus issue not his knee injury. He is expected to return to the lineup at somepoint this week, likely Wednesday night as the Pens look to get him a couple more practices under his belt to get his stamina back to full strength.
Malkin will travel with the team to New York and skate with the Penguins in the morning.
Malkin is not wearing a brace on his injured knee and said that his primary goal regarding his play this season is to get back to his previous elite level by the playoffs. Malkin has 15 goals and 22 assists on the season. The Penguins have four games in six days this week.
