The Minnesota Wild have announced that star forward Marian Gaborik will have surgery on his injured left hip. The team called Gaborik’s injury a “deficiency” in his hip that has caused chronic left groin pain.
Gaborik who was expected to be traded prior to March 4th’s NHL trade deadline has only appeared in six games this season. Gaborik turned down a multi year offer from the Wild which is believed to be in the range $8.2 million per season. Since the lockout Gaborik has missed over 80 games.
