Spring Training Notes
Kyle McPherson (5.68 ERA) battling for one of the final rotation spots, had his best outing of the spring this afternoon in a 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. McPherson threw five scoreless innings, allowing 4 hits and no walks, while striking out one.
In McPherson’s previous two spring starts, he allowed 8 hits and 8 earned runs in 5.2 innings.
Today McPherson faced several regulars from the Phillies lineup with Chase Utley, Michael Young, and Ryan Howard among them.
McPherson allowed a single to first baseman Ryan Howard in the second inning and a double to Chase Utley in the fourth inning. Darin Ruf also hit a single in the second inning and Ender Inciarte had a double in the fifth inning.
