He’s hitting .435 in his last 11 games. As good as Marte has been of late, the big thing Pirate scouts want to see out of him to end this season is start showing the ability to walk. That’s a big knock on him from scouts. Marte has just 14 walks on the season and 1 in his last 10 games…

— Starter Kyle McPherson (6-4, 3.03 ERA) took the loss, falling to 6-4 on the season. McPherson allowed 7 hits, 6 runs (3 ER) in the loss. He struck out 5 and walked 1.
— Reliever Bryan Morris (3.77 ERA) pitched one shutout inning in relief, allowing no hits and striking out 1. Morris has allowed 1 earn run in his last seven innings pitched.
