Sources: Alvarez expected to be called up next week

The youth movement for the Pittsburgh Pirates has begun and there are strong indications that top prospect Pedro Alvarez will be called up next week when the Pirates began a six game inter-league homestand.
A team source says Alvarez is “very close” to being called up and indicated that Alvarez will make his MLB debut at home.
Alvarez belted his 12th home run of the season Wednesday afternoon, going 3-for-4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s.
Alvarez was a single shy from the cycle.
The power hitting third baseman is batting .286 with 12 home runs and 50 RBI’s.
Following a six game homestand (June 15-20) next week, the Pirates hit the road for a nine game road trip and don’t return home until July 1.
