11/13/08 Blue Jays to pursue Greene and Wilson?
The Toronto Blue Jays are expected to be active in the free agent¬†and trade market. Adding a veteran shortstop is one of their top priorities.¬†Sources tell Inside Pittsburgh Sports,¬†Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson is on the Blue Jays radar. The Pirates¬†are looking for a two-for-1 swap¬†in return for Wilson. Jeff Blair of the¬†globeandmail reports the Jays have also discussed a trade with the San Diego Padres for shortstop Khalil Greene. Rafael Furcal is a possibility on the¬†free agent market.¬†Blair also mentions Jason Giambi and Brad Penny are on the Blue Jays radar. — Globe and Mail

The New York Yankees not only have their eye on big names C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Derek Lowe, and Mark Teixeira but the Yankees have interest in Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek and could pursue secondbaseman Orlando Hudson if the Yankees trade Robinson Cano. — Newark Star¬†
11/13/08 Yankees to make official offer to Sabathia tomorrow
Joel Sherman of the NY Post reports the Yankees will make an offer to C.C. Sabathia tomorrow when the bidding begins. Sherman speculates the Yankees initial offer could be in the range of 6 yrs Р$150 million and they could go higher. The Giants, Dodgers, Brewers and Angels are expected to make a strong pitch for Sabathia.  
Closers Brian Fuentes and Francisco Rodriguez are at the top of the Mets wishlist but the Mets are expected to explore all of their options. If the Mets fail to sign Fuentes or Rodriguez, the Mets may pursue the Cubs’ Kerry Wood, all-time save leader Trevor Hoffman of the Padres and the Nationals’ Chad Cordero.
11/13/08 Dodgers only willing to offer 3 years?
The LA Dodgers have presented Manny Ramirez with a 2 year offer and according to the LA Times are willing¬†to¬†guarantee a third¬†year but it remains to be seen whether they will go four years which is what it will take to re-sign Ramirez.¬†If Ramirez accepted the Dodgers current offer he¬†would earn $15MM in ’09, $22.5MM in ’10, and have a $22.5MM option for ’11 with a $7.5MM buyout.
The Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates have interest in Marlins outfielder Jeremy Hermida but according to MLb Hot Stove, the Marlins will have to be wowed to move Hermida. Sources tell Inside Pittsburgh Sports, Hermida is one of the Pirates top targets

11/10/08 Holliday to Oakland?
The Oakland A’s are on the verge of acquiring Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday according to Buster Olney of ESPN. Among the names that could be headed to Colorado are pitchers Greg Smith, Brent Anderson, outfielders Ryan Sweeney and Carlos Gonzalez. Holliday hit .321 with 25 homers and 88 RBIs this season and will be eligible for free agency next winter.
