Philadelphia 3 - Milwaukee 1
Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels stifled the Brewers Wednesday afternoon, allowing two hits, striking out nine in eight innings. Hamels retired the Brewers first 14 batters and led Philadelphia to their first playoff win since 1993. The Brewers making their first postseason appearance since 1982, played well but a miscue from centerfielder Mike Cameron, rattled 22 year old pitcher Yovani Gallardo who only lasted four innings. Hamels was brilliant using off-speed pitches to make it a long day for hitters Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun. The Brewers will look to rebound Thursday afternoon when ace C.C. Sabathia takes the mound for his fourth consecutive start on three days’ rest. Brett Myers (10-13) will be the Phillies Game 2 Starter
