Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy was named National League Manager of the Year this afternoon by the baseball Writers Association of America.
Tracy received 29 out of 32 first place votes.
Tracy took over an 18-28 Rockies club on May 29th after the team fired Clint Hurdle and guided them to a 74-42 finish, that included a playoff appearance.
Tracy has also agreed to a new 3 year contract with the Rockies.
Tracy is one of the few managers who has been able to revive his career after coaching the Pittsburgh Pirates this decade.
Tracy compiled a 135–189 record in two seasons with the Pirates (2006-2007).
From 2001-2005, Tracy was manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers (4 winning seasons out of 5), compiling a 427–383 record.
