The Seattle Times reported Monday morning that the Seattle Mariners have their eye on Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson.
The Times reports the two sides have discussed a shortstop swap of Wilson for Yuniesky Betancourt. Betancourt, 27, is slightly a better hitter than Wilson but Wilson has a clear advantage in the field.
Indications are the Pirates are seeking more than Betancourt as he is not regarded as a long-term solution at shortstop.
TIOPS contributor John Perrotto reports, trading Wilson for Betancourt makes little sense
