Pre-game Notes:
*Bylsma said today that every veteran is playing in four exhibition games which is why Sidney Crosby will sit tonight. Against Detroit and Chicago later this week, Bylsma wants to field a more complete lineup that will resemble the Penguins opening night lineup against Philadelphia on October 7.
*Bylsma praised Paul Martin’s poise in “all situations, ” calling the veteran defenseman a very intelligent player who is a “all around type of player.”
Bylsma talked at length today about top prospect Simon Despres who will appear in his second straight game.

Bylsma said that Despres earned another game due to his performance Saturday night when Despres was a +2 in the Penguins 3-1 win against Columbus.
Bylsma admitted that Despres is in a much different situation as the Penguins only have two options. He talked about Jordan Staal being a player who earned a roster spot out of the nine game window but it sounds like this might not be Despres last game with the club.
*Bylsma said for the second straight day that the team has to do what’s best for them which will result in the club making roster cuts following today’s game. We’re told they will make 12.
Brett Sterling is a safe, source says.
The process of roster cutting is by a committee Bylsma said today. The players have been rated on every practice and taking the 1st two games and the next two games.
