BLACK AND GOLD SCRIMMAGE
The Black and Gold Scrimmage will also be a good opportunity for the Penguins to evaluate some of their top young talent up against NHL players.
2011 first round pick Joe Morrow and defenseman Brian Dumoulin will be among the 15 players who the Penguins are bringing up for the Black and Gold Scrimmage.
Morrow who made a splash last year in training camp, has had a difficult year transitioning to the American Hockey League. He’s been exposed defensively, plagued with turnovers and hasn’t made much of an impact offensively with 1 goal and 8 assists in 9 games. Morrow has a team-worst minus-9 rating.
Dumoulin, a big two-way defenseman, was a key player acquired in the Jordan Staal trade. He leads all Wilkes Barre defenseman with 14 points and has 2 game winning goals.
Upper St. Clairs Dylan Reese is also among the 5 defensemen coming up.
Paul Thompson is the most intriguing forward coming up. He’s made a big jump on the organizational depth and could be pushing for an NHL role next season. Thompson has 12 goals and 18 points on the season.
Forwards: (9): Paul Thompson, Dominik Uher, Warren Peters, Zach Sill, Steve MacIntyre, Trevor Smith, Adam Payerl, Brian Gibbons, Riley Holzapfel
Defensemen (5): Joe Morrow, Brian Dumoulin, Dylan Reese, Alex Grant, Philip Samuelsson
Goaltenders: (1): Patrick Killeen
