Fleury, Bennett in for Penguins
The Eastern Conference Finals is now a best of three and it won’t just be goaltender where the Penguins will make a change tonight in Game 5.
Marc Andre Fleury will make his first start between the pipes since March 31st. Fleury stopped all seven shots in relief Friday night but all indications are the decision to turn to Fleury was more about the body of work from Murray over the last four to five games than the coaches believing Fleury had any impact on the Penguins nearly coming back in Game 4.
Still, the pressure was mounting on Mike Sullivan from many in the organization to turn to Fleury tonight even before Game 5.
The series is now Fleury’s and despite Murray having an .899 save percentage over his last five starts, this is still great drama with Fleury 1-7 over his last eight playoff starts.
I think this goes with Fleury being great tonight to put the Penguins up 3-2 and a game away from the Stanley Cup or he becomes the problem in goal. No in-between.
The Fleury decision isn’t the surprise of the day. All indications since Saturday have been that he would be the guy in goal.
