Insider Only NCAA: Arizona to pursue Jamie Dixon for head coaching position

Administration has Dixon at the top of their wishlist

Expect the Jamie Dixon to Arizona rumors to pop up in the next couple weeks. Arizona will begin their national coaching search this week and Dixon is believed to be at the top of Arizona’s wishlist as the administration is not expected to take the interim tag off of Russ Pennell.
Dixon who signed a three year extension last September is currently making $1.6 million per season, the university’s highest-paid employee.
Dixon has always wanted to return to the west coast but with Pitt playing in the nation’s top conference and a state of the art facility, the chances are slim that he will leave Pitt for Arizona.
Still, Sources have indicated he will listen to what Arizona has to offer and in October when Lute Olsen retired, it was believed Dixon would consider Arizona.
