NCAA BB Top 25
The Kansas Jayhawks topped the preseason ESPN/USA Today Top 25 coaches' poll, which was released Thursday.
The Jayhawks are followed by Michigan State (2), Texas (3), North Carolina (4) and Kentucky (5) to round out the top 5.
Villanova (6), Purdue (7), Duke (8), West Virginia (9) and Butler (10) round out the top 10.
West Virginia begins the season No. 9 and is regarded as a potential national title contender.
The Big East has 6 teams in the top 25. Villanova (6), West Virginia (9), Connecticut (14), Georgetown (21), Louisville (23), Syracuse (25).
The Pittsburgh Panthers finished 6th in the rankings last year but are not ranked to open the season and are picked to finish ninth in the Big East.
