The University of Pittsburgh Athletic Program has called a press conference for the Mens' basketball program today at 3:30 p.m to announce that the school and head coach Jamie Dixon have agreed to an extension.
The new extension will pay Dixon more than $2 million per season. He was previously making $1.6 million per season.
Dixon was mentioned in some recent job openings but was never a serious candidate in Oregon, contrary to what was speculated.
The Oregon Ducks never offered the job to Dixon as their focus has recently been on Tubby Smith and there was never any kind of substantiated talks between Dixon and the Oregon program.
Some believe that Dixon's people through back channels leaked that Dixon was highly interested in Oregon to get more money from Pitt.
He was previously signed through 2015-2016 and had received an extension in September 2008.
updated: The school announced that Dixon's new extension puts him under contract until 2018.
