NCAA: Pitt D-End Greg Romeus returning for senior season

University of Pittsburgh defensive end Greg Romeus has informed Dave Wannstedt this week that he plans on returning to Pitt for his senior season.

Romeus was a key member of one of the nations best defensive lines.

This season, Romeus was named co-Big East Defensive Player of the Year after collecting 43 tackles, 11.5 tackes for a loss, 8 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and an interception.

KDKA TV will have an exclusive one-on-one interview with Romeus tonight during their 6:00 p.m. newscast.

It is a little bit easier to stay healthy as a defensive player, so I think there is less risk in returning. Probably a solid move.

agree with bill..plus he is more likely to have a longer pro career playing defense as well...where as running backs like mccoy know their pro career will be basically over when they hit 30 so there is more incentive to leave school when they have the chance

I read where he was a fringe second round player. Another season could improve his stock. I remember listening to Pitts defensive line coach on Madden's show a few weeks ago and he made it sound like Romeus needed another year in school

Most sites I checked had him going 3rd rd, so good decision for him to raise his value. I just hope STeelers take a chance on him next draft when he enters. Lebeau will prob retire may be a good time to switch to 4-3

Monrovian - why? Sunseri has already been named the starter going into next season by Wanny - but I would hope he has an open enough mind to let the best man win the job - I hope Bostick can step up - if he can't, I'm fine with Tino.

I'm actually really excited to see Sunseri play. I remember when he led central cath to the WPIAL champ, but then again, all these guys have done stuff like that in high school. Do they have a big qb recruit coming in as a fresh?

Wannstache hasn't named a starter yet, Sunseri and Bostick will be battling it out in the spring and choice will be made from there...It slipped my mind that Bostick is still around. I'd like to see Pat step it up, but if it's between those too, then I do prefer Sunseri...

He actually did name a starter - at least heading into camp, and it was Sunseri - unfortunately, local media is just shitty at covering Pitt football - Rivals, on the other hand.....

I didn't say anything about Zeise being clueless - I actually think he does a great job - that's not to say the post gazette does a great job - the minute the football season is over, it's out of site, out of mind, and you get what you had last week - Zeise covering women's basketball.

I know you didn't...as for the PG covering Pitt, you're right, but I believe Zeise when he says in his blog that no starter has been named and they will battle for it in Spring camp...That is all.
