WVU Advances: In the East region, No. 5 West Virginia defeated No. 12 Clemson 86-74, advancing to the round of 32. It was an excellent victory for Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers, who rebounded after a sluggish start to control the play in the second half.
To seal the victory, Dolton Pepper made three straight steals in a matter of 40 seconds on three consecutive Clemson possessions to put the game away for West Virginia.
The Mountaineers will face the winner of No. 4 Kentucky - No. 13 Princeton.
No. 8 Butler knocks off No. 9 Old Dominion: Despite being the higher seed and making the National Title Game last year, No. 8 Butler came into today's game as an overwhelming underdog but the Bulldogs may have another run in them.
With the game tied at 58-58, Matt Howard scored off a rebound with 0.1 seconds left in the game, leading Butler to a thrilling 60-58 victory over No. 9 Old Dominion on Thursday afternoon at the Verizon center.
Butler advances in the Southeast Region and will face the winner of No. 1 Pittsburgh - No. 16 UNC-Asheville. Tipoff for Pitt is 3:10 p.m.
