Timmons aggrevates groin injury: First round pick Lawrence Timmons sat out the afternoon practice due to a twinge he felt in his groin. Timmons said the injury was the result of two-a-days, while head coach Mike Tomlin said it was a twinge Timmons felt in his groin. According to a source, Coach Tomlin is not happy about this. I’ve been told the coaching staff felt Timmons could have participated in the afternoon drills.

Who needs Joey Porter: Lamar Woodley and James Harrison have been phenomenal through the first four days of camp. Harrison has been called a practice player in the past but is on a mission to prove Joey Porter can be replaced. Lamar Woodley has been the story of camp. Woodley is expected to get some reps at defensive end when the Steelers work out of the 4-3 base defense in the next couple days.

Anthony Smith or Ryan Clark: The free safety position is a interesting battle going on right now. Through the first four days of camp Anthony Smith has been the better player. He has shown great explosiveness and was un blockable today in the pass rushing drills. Smith should supplant Clark as the starting free safety.

Rumors from camp: Although Willie Colon is working primarily with the second unit, Colon is the front runner to be the starting right tackle. Despite what Cedric Wilson believes, he is not going to beat out Santonio Holmes. Holmes is expected to resume practicing by the weekend.
