Polamalu backing off demands.

With the season opener, less than three days away, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Troy Polamalu are in deep contract discussions and the Steelers are prepared to give Polamalu the second richest signing bonus in team history.
Word around the league is the Steelers are looking to strike a deal that would center around guaranteed money in the $24-$25 million range.
Polamalu and his agent have gone into talks looking to paid among the top-5 defensive players in the game, seeking over $30 million guaranteed money, which had the two sides far apart early in the week.
The two sides though are said to be making some progress in the 11th hour of talks and the demands of Polamalu’s camp are said to be coming down. Steelers President Art Rooney II has been the driving force being the talks in the past week and there has been a good faith effort between the two sides.
A deal last month was considered unlikely earlier in the month due to the lack of available cash the Steelers had after dishing out big deals to LaMarr Woodley and Lawrence Timmons.
NFL Networks Jason LaCanfora reported tonight that he wouldn’t be “surprised” if the two sides struck a deal before Sunday.
