A second half collapse at the hands of three of the worst teams in the AFC, has major changes brewing in Pittsburgh.
Personnel changes are imminent along with a number of coaching changes.
According to sources close to former NFL executive Michael Lombardi, "there is unhappiness with the lack of commitment to the run game, along with a sense of leadership coming from the offensive side."
Barring an unforeseen situation where the Steelers make the playoffs and go on a long run, at least three coaches are believed to be on the outs; Amos Jones (Asst. Special Teams Coach), Bob Ligashesky (Special Teams Coach), and Ray Horton (Defensive Backs Coach).
That number could rise to five, depending on how the Steelers finish in their final three games.
Offensive line coach Larry Zierlein (Offensive Line Coach) is on the hot seat. Zierlein was not from the Bill Cowher regime and was hired by Mike Tomlin.
The wild card is clearly offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. Despite the Steelers projected to have a 3,000 + yard passer, 1,000 + yard rusher and two 1,000 + yard receivers, the impressive stats have not resulted in the type of production the Steelers should be putting up. There is something missing, along with questionable play calling in key situations.
However, Arians fate was not sealed after Thursday's loss. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is a strong support of Arians and that will go a long way.
Also, despite being only 56 years old, there has been a rumor going around that Arians is considering retirement. That rumor has been circulating since the bye week.
