FEAR OF SIGNIFICANT INJURY COMING OUT OF STEELERS HEADQUARTERS
Based on early diagnosis, the Pittsburgh Steelers know they will be without franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in Sunday’s showdown with the Baltimore Ravens.
What the team expects to learn this afternoon is how much longer after this week. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, an MRI taken last night has revealed that Roethlisberger has a sprained right shoulder that Steelers officials fear could sideline him for close to four weeks.
The greater fear in Steelers circles is that the injury could be even worse than first believed. The team has not been able to hammer down an exact diagnosis due to the swelling around the shoulder, Inside Pittsburgh Sports has learned. It is believed that Roethlisberger will have a second MRI done today, per Ed Werder of ESPN who says Roethlisberger is extremely sore this morning.
Mike Tomlin will be speaking in about forty minutes but a team official tells us that full details of the injury might still not be available to the team by the time Tomlin speaks.
