Penguins to only carry 21 players to open the season?.

A growing trend were going to see this season will be teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins keeping their roster around 20-21 players to start the season.
Teams are allowed to carry 23 players on their roster to open the season but the Penguins for example are going to keep less players to stay above the upper limit of the salary cap.
Ray Shero indicated to the media on Sunday that he won’t be carrying 23 players on opening night.
Agents for one are not happy about this because it means less NHL jobs for their clients.
For Pittsburgh the decision is going to be whether to keep 13 forwards or seven defenseman if they decide to keep 21 skaters. Indications are if they go that route, it will be a 7th defenseman due to the fact that the team has a number of forward candidates on two-way contracts.
