NHL All-Star Voting
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby continues to lead all National Hockey League players with 218,791 votes – a 73,065-overall vote lead on second-place Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens – through the first two weeks of voting in 2011 NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, presented by XM.
In addition to Crosby, defenseman Kris Letang, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and forward Evgeni Malkin rank among the leaders at their respective positions.
Crosby, who has been voted a starter in each of the past three All-Star Games (2007, ’08 and ’09), currently leads the National Hockey League with 41 points (18G-23A).
Letang, the NHL’s third-highest scoring defenseman with 23 points, sits fourth among blueliners with 115,862 votes – the third-highest total among write-in candidates.
Fleury, who is in the midst of an nine-game unbeaten streak (8-0-1), ranks third among goaltenders with 92,095 votes.
Malkin, the Penguins’ third-leading scorer, ranks eighth among forwards with 106,136 votes.
Other Penguins to collect votes included forwards Maxime Talbot (12,879) and Chris Kunitz (5,565), and defensemen Paul Martin (51,516), Brooks Orpik (17,367) and Alex Goligoski (5,819).
