Analysis: Tavares is a no brainer for the Islanders because they need to build down the middle and most importantly Tavares will sell tickets. Tavares will give the Islanders a franchise type of player to build around. Now they need to get a new arena
The Lightning have a front office that doesn’t know what there doing but they luck out for the second consecutive year.
Last year they drafted center Steven Stamkos who will be a star in this league and now they will add Modo’s Victor Hedman as they desperately need a #1 type defenseman to build around.
Perfect scenario for both teams
The loser of the lottery has to be the Atlanta Thrashers. Ilya Kovalchuk enters the final year of his contract and the Thrashers needed to get up into the two picks, to land Hedman or Tavares.
