A topic among the Penguins brass at the upcoming Pro Scouting meetings on June 6-8 will be enforcer Eric Godard.

Some have predicted that the writing is on the wall that Godard won’t be brought back but those inside the organization have told me not to count Godard out of the team’s plans just yet.
Despite the role of an enforcer becoming less important, I’m told GM Ray Shero still feels it is important to have an heavyweight on the roster and the team doesn’t want Deryk Engelland having the sole responsibility of that role.
The team is weighing bringing back Godard at a much lesser salary. Godard carried a cap hit of $750,000 for the past three seasons.
