Source: Jagr not looking to return to NHL: A source with connections to Jagr tells me “that Jagr is not thinking of returning to the nhl … infact, he’s involved in a very special kind of All-Star game in Russia to take place January 10th
Team Jagr against Team Yashin. The KHL is in financial trouble and teams have missed making salary payments but nothing on Jagr or his team not getting paid.”
Rangers holding out hope to land Sundin: Sources in New York tell me that the Rangers believe they are among the leading candidates in the Sundin sweepstakes. The Rangers only have $1.7 million in cap space but word is Sundin will join the Rangers for $4 million per season in January if they are able to clear enough salary. The Rangers are shopping Petr Prucha who makes $1.6 million per season. They will have to move another forward to make it work but they remain one of Sundin’s top choices if not his 1st.

Sundin recently met with the Chicago Blackhawks according to reports. The Vancouver Canucks are believed to still have their 2yr – $20 million offer on the table.
Oilers defenseman to demand trade?: David Staples of the Edmonton Journal writes don’t be surprised if Oilers defenseman Ladislav Smid demands a trade. Smid has been rarely used this season but has a lot of upside.
According to Staples, “Smid is 22 now, still young in his NHL life, but with some excellent experience under his belt. He is a former high first-round draft pick and was a key component in the Pronger trade. He’s at a point in his career where he’s ready to take that next step up and actually do well playing hard minutes against the tougher forwards on opposing teams. He’s figured a few things out. He’ll figure out more if he gets more ice time. And if he doesn’t get more ice time, under these circumstances, he should ask for that opportunity in another NHL city.”
