When Kris Letang was benched against the Montreal Canadiens it was believed Interim Head Coach Dan Bylsma was just sending Letang a message and he would return to the lineup within a game or two.
Letang has now been scratched for three straight games and while the Penguins have won 2 out of the three games, they have also given up 13 goals in that three game span.
From What I’ve been able to gather, Bylsma has been told that Whitney and Gill must remain in the lineup as both players are being actively shopped prior to the March 4th Trade deadline.
Gill was a frequent scratch during Michel Therrien’s final 3-4 weeks as head coach but since Bylsma has taken over, Gill has been in the lineup for all four games.
Defenseman Mark Eaton who was a healthy scratch 13 times under Michel Therrien, has dressed for three out of the four games that Bylsma has been at the helm. Eaton signed a $2 year – $4 million deal in the summer.
