Insider Only NHL: Pens Rumors: Guerin set to join scouting department; Comrie/Kings chatter

The Latest Penguins Rumblings
There is some thought that former Penguin Billy Guerin could still help the Penguins on the ice, most notably on the power play as the Penguins lack a right handed shot down low.
Guerin though will “likely” be making his mark with the Penguins, off the ice.
Word out of Guerin’s inner circle is that Guerin will officially announce his retirement following the Thanksgiving holiday, probably in early December, and most likely join the Penguins scouting staff in January of 2011.
Guerin joining the Penguins hockey operations staff has been in the works for about three weeks now, and Guerin is “strongly” leaning towards making the move to a hockey operations role and being apart of the Penguins scouting staff.
Guerin’s scouting base will be in the New York area I’m told and he will work very closely with Tom Fitzgerald.

*Pittsburgh is pretty quiet on the trade market but multiple league sources tell me the Los Angeles Kings are said to have interest in adding Penguins forward Mike Comrie.
Although Comrie is the odd-man out in Pittsburgh, there hasn’t been any clear indication that the organization is ready to cut him loose just yet.
The Kings I’m told are monitoring “Comrie’s status”. Something to keep an eye on in the next couple weeks, especially if Comrie hits the waiver wire.
Comrie spurned an offer from the Kings this summer, despite having on off-season home in the LA area with wife Hilary Duff. Comrie and his agent Ritch Winter felt Pittsburgh was the better fit for his long-term interests as Comrie was “promised” a strong shot at playing with Sidney Crosby.
