The New York Rangers have traded Scott Gomez, winger Tom Pyatt and defenceman Mike Busto from the New York Rangers in exchange for winger Chris Higgins and defensemen Ryan McDonagh and Pavel Valentenko according to USA Today Hockey Insider Kevin Allen.
The Rangers have now cleared $5.4 million in cap space.
This move lets the Rangers push forward to trade for Dany Heatley or enter the free agent market and go after the likes of Marian Hossa, Marian Gaborik and Martin Havlat.
