The New York Rangers have offered Brendan Shanahan a try out contract according to the New York Post. It was believed the Rangers were set to make Shanahan a 1 year offer prior to training camp but the front office remains split on Shanahan. The Rangers want to see what they have first before offering a guaranteed contract to a veteran player on the downside of his career. Thus far Shanahan has refused to show up to camp without a guaranteed contract. Shanahan remains focused on playing with the Rangers but will explore other options in the next 7-10 days if the Rangers don’t make an official offer within that time frame.
