Veteran defenseman Martin Skoula has accepted a training camp invite with the

Florida Panthers. Skoula was being pursued by Pittsburgh and the New York Rangers. The Penguins were informed Monday afternoon from Skoula’s camp that he was going into another direction.
The two sides kept in touch for much of the past month but according to sources with the Penguins, Skoula was looking for a chance to compete for a top 6 spot.
Pittsburgh offered a two way contract in August.
Skoula was a teammate of Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma for a short stint.
Pittsburgh is still interested in adding some depth on their blueline. As things stand right now, Ben Lovejoy has the inside track on being the teams #7 defenseman.
