The Minnesota Wild remain hopeful that the franchise will be able to sign Marian Gaborik to a long term extension but Wild GM Doug Riseborough is coming around to the idea that he may have to move his star winger. Gaborik remains non-committal and according to a source the Wild’s scouting staff has begun targeting potential players the Wild could get in return for Gaborik. A player the Wild have at the top of their wishlist plays in the Atlantic Division.

Among the interested parties are the New York Rangers. A Rangers source indicates Glen Sather has been in constant contact with Doug Riseborough to express his interest. The Wild are looking for an impact player in return for Gaborik, if they decide to move him sometime during the season. One player the Wild are very interested in is Rangers center Chris Drury. The Rangers have made it known that Scott Gomez is an untouchable but are willing to move Drury for the right player. The Wild eye Drury as a perfect Jacques Lemaire type of player.
