nyquisct The Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers and Columbus Blue Jackets all won Tuesday night and it will be at least a few more days before the Penguins get an idea on who their first round opponent will be and with how tight things are, it might not be known until the last day of the regular season on Sunday.
Things are setting up where the Penguins will play Detroit, Columbus or Philadelphia in Round 1.
Detroit beat Buffalo tonight 4-2, while Columbus won in OT over Phoenix, 4-3, as the Red Wings and Blue Jackets moved closer to clinching a playoff berth.
Detroit remains one point ahead of Columbus for the top wildcard spot. The Red Wings are in Pittsburgh tomorrow night and Columbus plays in Dallas and will open the game with a 1-0 lead.
If Detroit and Columbus are tied at the end of the season, Columbus will win the tie breaker as they currently have a 36 ROW to the Red Wings 33 ROW and Columbus won the season series.
The Flyers defeated Florida 5-2 and officially clinched a playoff berth tonight. Quite a turnaround for Philadelphia after their horrid start. They’re looked at by NHL scouts, team executives as a team that could be a dark horse in the East and win a couple rounds.

Philadelphia leads Columbus by two points for third place in the Metropolitan division. The Flyers right now have the ROW tiebreaker over the Blue Jackets, 38 to 36, which is the second tiebreaker, but the Blue Jackets own the third tiebreaker, head to head, as they were 3-1 vs the Flyers this season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated from the playoffs tonight. Washington beat St. Louis 4-1 but are four points behind Columbus with three games.
