The biggest worry from Pirates officials about Pedro Alvarez is that the ball has no jump off his bat and that has continued so far in the minors, as he keeps looking like a singles hitter, according to observers.

Alvarez who was demoted to Triple-A Indianapolis this week, is 2-for-15 with 2 walks, no extra base hits and 6 strikeouts in 4 games with the Indianapolis Indians.
He was 1-for-4 with a strikeout in the Indians 3-2 win over Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
Including his final 10 games with the Pirates, Alvarez is 4-for-43 with no extra base hits in his last 14 games combined with Pittsburgh (10), Indianapolis (4).
