Pittsburgh ‘s 23-20 upset win against the Cincinnati Bengals was amazing theater in the 4th quarter + overtime. So many twists and turns, it doesn’t get better than that. Winning a game on the road you’re not expected to against a top playoff contender in your division, is how a team on the Steelers level can find a way to get to 10 wins this season when it’s all said and done.

Pittsburgh had a similar win last season in Buffalo where the defense just balled out. What the Steelers have to avoid is what transpired the following couple weeks, losing home opener and eventually starting 1-3.

Bill Belichick against the Steelers is so often a nightmarish situation for the Black and Gold, but things are different in 2022. From training camp to the preseason to week 1, the Patriots offense is just a mess. This is not Tom Brady and Co coming to town.

Home vs New England, @ Cleveland, Home vs the Jets over the next three weeks, Pittsburgh has a bonus win now against Cincinnati that they need to build on and stack wins against their winnable opponents.

— A new quarterback who can move his feet better and the same predictable vanilla offense. Until proven otherwise, Pittsburgh’s offensive scheme just continues to be boggled down by having an average offensive coordinator in Matt Canada. Mitch Trubisky did his job that the Steelers want out of him. Make 5-6 plays and don’t lose the game. However, there are opportunities for this offense to be more creative with Trubisky by rolling him out and there was none of it in week 1. We’ll see what week 2 brings but with no ability to run through the tackles and hard to see that changing anytime soon, they can’t just keep throwing this style of offense that everyone in the building knows what’s coming. Prior to the game winning scoring drive in overtime, Pittsburgh totaled 222 yards on 13 possessions, scoring 13 points. And the quarterback play was serviceable. There’s enough talent at the skilled positions where there needs to be games this season where many are saying ‘Matt Canada’ put together a great game plan’.
