The Pittsburgh Penguins announced today that defenseman Brooks Orpik underwent successful abdominal/hernia surgery on his right side today.
Orpik’s rehab will be 6 to 8 weeks. Training camp is expected to begin in mid September and Orpik should be ready for the start of the season.
This is the second straight summer Orpik has undergone hernia surgery. Last summer, he had hernia surgery on his left side.
It’s believed Orpik was having some issues during workouts, which is the reason for the surgery now and not earlier this summer.
