OTA No. 10: Practice Report
–Ben Roethlisberger quarterbacked team drills with the first team offense for a second straight day. He worked with mixed units in 7-on-7 against members of the first team defense.
-After practice Mike Tomlin said he wants to get Roethlisberger a lot of snaps with the first team for now since he has missed reps in recent weeks. He also said that Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch may lose snaps from time to time so Roethlisberger can get work in now and Dixon can continue to build up experience.
-Regarding Roethlisberger’s public silence so far, Tomlin says Roethlisberger will address the media at “an appropriate time.”
-Tomlin was asked if he has seen a change in Roetlisberger’s personality so far. “I haven’t,” said Tomlin, “But then again I haven’t been looking for one.”
-Much like yesterday, Roethlisberger sprayed around some incomplete passes…but again connected on a deep bomb to Arnaz Battle.
–Leftwich returned to practice today after being absent yesterday. He worked with the second team and was followed in the rotation by Dennis Dixon. Charlie Batch did little to nothing in team drills.
–Ike Taylor returned to drills today after missing Tuesday. Troy Polamalu and James Harrison remain absent. Brett Keisel wasn’t around after practicing yesterday. Hines Ward continues to attend practice, but he’s still on the sidlines and out of uniform.
-LB Renauld Williams made a nice play to break up a Leftwich pass during team drills.
–Sean McHugh booted a ball in frustration after dropping a good pass on the sideline from Leftwich.
–Justin Hartwig continues to practice only in individual and position drills. Tomlin wants to continue keeping Hartwig sidelined during team sessions so the center’s shoulder continues to get better. The coach also praised Doug Legursky’s play at that spot with the first team so far.
